Alberta Avenue is a historic inner-city neighborhood in Edmonton, dating back to 1894 when the city had only about 1,000 residents. Originally part of the “Village of North Edmonton,” its development accelerated between 1906 and 1912 during Edmonton’s land boom.
Characterized by small residential lots, Alberta Avenue features a mix of large two-story homes and smaller bungalows along tree-lined streets. Its strong commercial presence is centered along 118th Avenue, Norwood Boulevard (111th Avenue), and 95th Street. The neighborhood’s name originates from the former designation of 118th Avenue, known as “Alberta Avenue” since at least 1922.
