About Dunluce, Edmonton
Dunluce is a residential neighbourhood in northwest Edmonton, developed as part of the Castle Downs Outline Plan. During the oil-driven economic boom of the 1970s, Edmonton expanded its boundaries to accommodate growth, annexing the Castle Downs and Lake District areas in 1971. The Dunluce Neighbourhood Outline Plan was approved in 1974, and most residential construction was completed by the 1980s.
The neighbourhood is bordered by four major roadways: 153rd Avenue, 167th Avenue, 127th Street, and Castle Downs Road. These roads provide residents with quick access to other parts of the city. Dunluce features a mix of housing types, including single-family homes, townhouses, and a mobile home park located at 153rd Avenue and 127th Street.
Residents enjoy access to various amenities, including the Castle Downs Recreation Centre in the southeast corner and a community league at the heart of the neighbourhood. A dry pond, located between 121 Street and Dunluce Road, serves as part of the area’s stormwater management system.
Following the Castle Downs tradition of naming neighbourhoods after historic castles, Dunluce is named after a famous medieval castle located on the north coast of Ireland.
