About Elmwood Park, Edmonton
Elmwood Park is a compact and well-connected neighborhood in Edmonton, known for its mid-century charm and convenient location. Developed primarily in the late 1940s and 1950s, the area was designed to accommodate returning WWII veterans, many of whom planted Elm trees along the boulevards, giving the neighborhood its name. While single-detached homes dominate the landscape, a mix of multi-family structures lines 82nd Street, and commercial space is situated in the northeast corner. With easy access to major roadways like Yellowhead Trail, Wayne Gretzky Drive, and Fort Road, residents enjoy quick connections to amenities, services, and employment centers.
Previously known as Grierson Estate—named after Edward Delegare “Del” Grierson—Elmwood Park was renamed around 1945. Despite its small size, the neighborhood remains a dynamic community with a mix of housing options and a central location that makes city living both convenient and accessible.
