About Gold Bar, Edmonton
Gold Bar, located in east Edmonton, is a mature neighborhood with easy access to downtown and the University of Alberta. Development primarily occurred in the 1950s, with single-detached homes being the dominant housing type and some row housing along the southern boundary.
The North Saskatchewan River Valley and ravine system, including Goldstick Park and Gold Bar Ravine, provide beautiful views for residents. The street network follows a combination of crescents and a modified grid pattern. Residents have access to businesses on 50 Street and 101 Avenue, with additional services at nearby Capilano Mall. The area was once known as “Gold Bar Farm,” and the neighborhood’s name likely refers to gold prospectors in the area. Goldstick Park is named after Rabbi Hyman Goldstick, Edmonton’s first rabbi.
