About High Park, Edmonton
High Park is a compact neighborhood in west Edmonton, characterized by its grid-pattern layout and generously sized lots. While the area has existed since 1912, development primarily took place in the 1950s and 1960s. The neighborhood is dominated by smaller single-family bungalows, many with detached garages accessible via back lanes.
Formerly part of the Town of Jasper Place, High Park was annexed by the City of Edmonton in 1964. The neighborhood is bordered by 107 and 111 Avenues, as well as 149 and 156 Streets. Commercial development is limited but available along 111 Avenue, with additional shopping and services nearby at Westmount Mall and Mayfield Common.
High Park offers residents access to two parks and an elementary school. Its name may be inspired by one of two High Parks in northeast England.
