About Ogilvie Ridge, Edmonton
Ogilvie Ridge is a scenic neighbourhood in southeast Riverbend, bordered by Bulyea Heights to the north, a power line right-of-way to the south, Whitemud Creek ravine to the east, and Rabbit Hill Road to the west. Originally used for agriculture, the area saw residential development begin in the early 1980s with single-detached homes, followed by multi-family housing in the late 1980s. The neighbourhood’s defining feature is its integration with the North Saskatchewan River Valley ravine system, which naturally divides it into three sections through two finger-like extensions of the ravine.
At the heart of Ogilvie Ridge is a large park featuring playing fields, a naturalized park, a water feature, and tennis courts, with homes designed to overlook this central green space. The community’s road network follows a hierarchical system connecting to major routes like Terwillegar Drive, Anthony Henday Drive, and Whitemud Drive, while pedestrian pathways and bikeways ensure easy access to schools, parks, and public transit. Named after James H. Ogilvie, a long-serving politician, lawyer, and WWI veteran, the neighbourhood reflects his legacy of dedication to Edmonton, where he served as a city alderman from 1932 to 1948.
