About Rosslyn, Edmonton
Annexed to Edmonton during the pre-World War I land boom, Rosslyn remained undeveloped for decades until post-World War II growth spurred its subdivision in the late 1950s. Most of the neighbourhood was built during the 1960s, with single-detached houses making up about two-thirds of its dwellings, while semi-detached homes, row houses, and low-rise apartments account for the rest. Several large parks and schools provide ample green space for residents.
Rosslyn’s commercial properties are primarily along the 97th Street corridor, with additional amenities on 134th Avenue and nearby Northgate Centre and North Town Malls. Though undeveloped until the mid-20th century, the area was known as Rosslyn since the early 1900s, possibly named after Rosslyn Chapel in Scotland.
