About Strathearn, Edmonton
Strathearn, a southeast Edmonton neighborhood, is bordered by Connors Road, 85 Street, and the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Most homes were built in the late 1940s and 1950s, though many have been modernized.
Originally part of early Edmonton river lots, Strathearn was annexed in 1912 and 1913 but saw most development post-WWII. It features single-detached homes, local shopping, and the Strathearn Heights apartments, a large-scale mid-century rental complex. A 2008 rezoning plan introduced new mixed-use developments. The neighborhood was likely named after Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.
