Allendale, located in south-central Edmonton, was named after the Allen family, who farmed the area in the late 1800s. Annexed by Strathcona in 1907 and later part of Edmonton in 1912, Allendale is a predominantly single-family residential neighbourhood. Developed mostly in the 1950s, it offers convenient access to key amenities like the University of Alberta, Whyte Avenue, and Southgate Shopping Centre. Major arterials such as 104 Street and 109 Street feature a variety of local businesses, making Allendale a vibrant and well-connected community.
