About Cloverdale, Edmonton
Cloverdale is a charming, small neighborhood in central Edmonton, located along the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River. With a population of just 885 people, it offers a quiet residential atmosphere while remaining close to downtown.
Originally settled in the 1870s, Cloverdale was annexed by Strathcona in 1907 and later became part of Edmonton in 1912. The area was historically a working-class community built on former industrial sites, with transportation playing a key role in its development. The Low Level Bridge, completed in 1902, connected Cloverdale to the city, and the Edmonton, Yukon, and Pacific Railway further integrated the neighborhood.
Today, Cloverdale has transformed into a community with high-density housing and significant green space. It is home to the Muttart Conservatory and serves as the venue for the annual Edmonton Folk Music Festival, making it a vibrant and scenic place to live.
