Montrose is a well-established neighbourhood in Edmonton, with most of its development taking place before 1960. This community offers a diverse mix of land uses, featuring a blend of residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational spaces. Single and semi-detached homes dominate the residential areas, while multi-family structures are strategically placed along major roadways. The western portion of Montrose is a hub for commercial and industrial activity, benefiting from its proximity to key transportation routes like Yellowhead Trail, Wayne Gretzky Drive, 118 Avenue, and 120 Avenue.

The neighbourhood is also well-connected, with the LRT running along its western boundary. Montrose takes its name from Montrose Elementary School, which opened in 1951. The school itself was named in honor of the Marquis of Montrose, a Scottish hero known for his resistance to enforced Presbyterianism under English rule.
