About Terwillegar Towne, Edmonton
Terwillegar Towne was named in honor of Dr. Norman L. Terwillegar (1884-1948), a pioneer, surgeon, and long-time property owner in the area. He practiced medicine in Edmonton from 1912 to 1947 and served on the staff of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for over 35 years. In addition to his medical contributions, he was president of both the Alberta Division of the Canadian Medical Association and the Edmonton Academy of Medicine. His legacy is reflected in the community that bears his name.
