About North Glenora, Edmonton
North Glenora is a historic and well-planned residential neighborhood in west-central Edmonton, developed post-World War II on land originally owned by Malcolm Groat. Designed by the city’s first planner, Noel Dant, the area features a modified grid layout with crescents and cul-de-sacs to reduce traffic. Bounded by 107 Avenue, 111 Avenue, 142 Street, and Groat Road, it offers easy access to downtown and nearby amenities.
Built mostly in the 1950s, North Glenora consists mainly of single-detached homes with centrally located public facilities and multi-unit housing. The first major project was a recreation complex in 1953, fostering a strong community feel. Residents also enjoy proximity to Westmount Mall, Edmonton’s first suburban shopping center, which has served the neighborhood since the mid-1950s.
