Parkdale is a centrally located neighbourhood bordered by 118 Avenue, 112 Avenue, a residential street to the west, and the CNR/LRT right-of-way to the east. Development began in the early 1900s, spurred by Edmonton’s streetcar expansion along Alberta Avenue. The neighbourhood remains primarily residential, with single-detached homes dominating the area, alongside semi-detached houses, row homes, and apartments. Parkdale also features two schools with park spaces and Edgar Millen Park in the west-central area.
Commercial activity is concentrated along 118 Avenue and key intersections, while industrial properties are near the CNR/LRT corridor. Commonwealth Stadium and Northlands Exhibition Grounds lie to the south and east, and downtown Edmonton is nearby. The name “Parkdale” has been in use since 1907 and is likely a descriptive term for the area.
