Belmont is a vibrant residential neighborhood in northeast Edmonton, situated within the Clareview district. Bounded by arterial roads on three sides and the scenic Kennedale Ravine to the south, Belmont offers a mix of natural beauty and urban convenience. Originally homesteaded in the late 1880s and subdivided in 1912, the area remained largely undeveloped until its annexation to Edmonton in 1961. Residential growth took off in the mid-1970s following the approval of the Clareview Outline Plan, leading to a well-balanced mix of single-detached homes and medium-density housing, including row houses.
Belmont provides residents with a strong sense of community, featuring centrally located schools, recreational facilities, and an extensive network of pathways ideal for walking and biking. Once home to the Belmont Drive-In Theatre—tragically destroyed by a tornado in 1987—the neighborhood carries a rich history.
