About Allard, Edmonton
The Allard neighbourhood is located in southwest Edmonton, within the Heritage Valley area. It is bounded by 127 Street to the west, James Mowatt Trail to the north, Blackmud Creek to the east, and 41 Avenue to the south. The area began development in 2009 and is expected to feature a combination of low and medium-density housing, with a mix of parks, green spaces, and stormwater management ponds. A small commercial area is also planned for the south-central part of the neighbourhood, while proximity to Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail South offers convenient access to nearby amenities.
Named after Dr. Charles Alexander Allard, a well-known Edmonton surgeon, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, the neighbourhood reflects his legacy through its community focus. Dr. Allard was recognized posthumously with inductions into both the Canadian Business Hall of Fame and the CAB Broadcast Hall of Fame. The streets in Allard continue this theme, with names like Atkinson, Abbott, and Adamson honoring other prominent local figures. As development continues, Allard will become a vibrant and accessible community within Heritage Valley.
