About Beacon Heights, Edmonton
Beacon Heights is a historic Edmonton neighborhood that began developing in 1910 alongside the local coal mining industry. Originally part of the Town of Beverly, it grew as a residential suburb after the Beverly Bridge opened in 1953, linking 118th Avenue to Highway 16. When Beverly amalgamated with Edmonton in 1961, Beacon Heights became one of its northern neighborhoods. Today, it features mostly single- and semi-detached homes, with higher-density housing near commercial areas. The community’s focal point is Beverly Jubilee Park and the Beacon Heights Community League.
