About Crawford Plains, Edmonton
Crawford Plains is a family-friendly neighborhood in southeast Edmonton, located within the Mill Woods community. Developed primarily in the late 1970s and 1980s, the neighborhood features curving streets and cul-de-sacs designed to reduce traffic and enhance walkability. At the heart of Crawford Plains is a central school and recreational site, making it an ideal location for families with children.
Bounded by arterial and collector roadways, including Anthony Henday Drive, the neighborhood offers convenient access to other parts of the city. Residents benefit from local shopping at Crawford Plains Shopping Centre, while additional retail, health services, and recreational facilities are available at nearby Mill Woods Town Centre. Along with Daly Grove and Pollard Meadows, Crawford Plains is part of the Southwood Community League, which was established in 1980.
The neighborhood was named in honor of the Honourable Neil Crawford (1931–1992), who served in both municipal and provincial government, including as an MLA for Edmonton-Parkallen and a Cabinet Minister.
