About Cromdale, Edmonton
Cromdale is one of Edmonton’s oldest inner-city neighbourhoods, with development dating back to the early 20th century when a streetcar line extended east from downtown. Originally a low-density residential area, Cromdale saw significant redevelopment in the 1960s, with many single-family homes in the western portion replaced by high-density apartment buildings. Its prime location near downtown and strong transportation connections make it a desirable area for urban living.
The neighbourhood’s unique shape is influenced by the scenic Kinnaird Ravine, which winds through the community, providing beautiful green spaces and recreational opportunities. Cromdale also offers easy access to the North Saskatchewan River Valley and is located near major city landmarks, including the Coliseum. Named after a place in Scotland, the neighbourhood was once called “View Point,” a fitting name given its stunning natural surroundings and proximity to the city’s core.
