About Ekota, Edmonton
Ekota, meaning “special place” in Cree, is a residential neighborhood in the Mill Woods area of Edmonton. Designed with curving streets and cul-de-sacs, the area fosters a suburban feel with a high proportion of young families.
Developed mostly in the 1970s, Ekota consists primarily of single-detached homes, with few businesses and no commercial properties within its boundaries. However, residents have convenient access to nearby Town Centre Mall for shopping and services. Ekota is part of the Knottwood Community League, alongside the Menisa and Satoo neighborhoods, which has served the community since 1977.
