Forest Heights is a scenic neighborhood in Edmonton, perched on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River Valley, offering beautiful views of the river. Developed in 1911 and becoming part of Edmonton in 1913, the area remained agricultural until the 1950s when housing expanded.
The neighborhood features a mix of grid and modified grid street patterns, with single-detached houses being the main home type. Access to North Edmonton is provided by three major roadways—75th Street/Capilano Freeway, 98th Avenue, and 84th Street—and four valley bridges.
In addition to the river views, Forest Heights is home to amenities like Riverside Golf Course. The neighborhood’s name likely comes from its development by Windsor Realty, with James H. McKinley, a former alderman, possibly choosing it for its natural beauty.
