About Kiniski Gardens, Edmonton
Kiniski Gardens is a residential neighbourhood in Mill Woods, Edmonton. Established as part of the Mill Woods land development in 1970, the area was named after Julia Kiniski, a passionate local politician who made history as the third woman elected to Edmonton’s City Council. Her son, Gene Kiniski, later became a well-known professional wrestler.
This triangular-shaped community is bordered by 34 Street to the east, a pipeline utility corridor to the northwest, and Mill Creek Ravine to the southwest, providing residents with access to natural green spaces. The neighbourhood is centered around two school and recreational sites, with single-detached homes as the predominant housing type, along with some low-rise apartments and semi-detached homes.
Residents can access shopping and services on 50 Street and 34 Street, while nearby Jackson Heights is Kiniski Gardens’ partner in the Burnewood Neighbourhood Area Structure Plan. Historically, the southern portion of Kiniski Gardens was part of Edmonton’s Market Gardens in the early 1900s.
