About Meyokumin, Edmonton
Meyokumin is in south-central Mill Woods, one of 27 neighbourhoods in southeast Edmonton. Originally part of the Papaschase Indian Reserve (1876), the land was later sold to settlers and used for agriculture until the late 1960s. Development began in the late 1970s and continued into the 1980s.
Most homes in Meyokumin are single-detached, with higher-density housing along collector roads. The neighbourhood features a curvilinear street design, with schools, parks, and a small commercial plaza centrally located. Additional shopping is available at Town Centre Mall to the north.
Meyokumin, like several Mill Woods neighbourhoods, has a Cree name—meaning “good water.”
