About Pembina, Edmonton
Pembina is a primarily commercial neighborhood in northwest Edmonton, with a limited residential presence consisting of a walk-up apartment complex and a townhouse complex. The area is uniquely shaped like a wide, flattened “U,” with the Hudson neighborhood nestled within its arms. Bounded by 137 Avenue to the south, 142 Street to the west, and 127 Street to the east, Pembina is surrounded by a mix of residential and industrial communities, including Cumberland, Baranow, Kensington, Wellington, and the McArthur and Rampart Industrial subdivisions.
According to Edmonton’s 2014 municipal census, Pembina had a population of 542 residents in 299 dwellings, reflecting a 7.1% growth from 2012. With a land area of 0.68 km², the neighborhood maintains a moderate population density. Most households consist of four to five people, with 67% of residences being owner-occupied and 33% rented.
Residential development in Pembina is minimal, with both housing complexes constructed in the mid-to-late 1990s. Despite its primarily commercial focus, the neighborhood offers convenient access to nearby residential and industrial areas, making it a well-connected hub in northwest Edmonton.
